The three manifestations of humanity are: civility, generosity and hospitality.
Three things from which never to be moved: one's Gods, one's Oaths and the Truth.
Traditional Celtic Triads
There is a reawakening of the heart going on. This site is dedicated to all people who honor the land and those that live upon it: the people, plants and animals. The world is suffering now as never before. We can help each other or hurt each other. We choose with each thought, word and deed. The world we are living in is a result of all the choices gone before.
One name for Gaels who no longer live in their original countries but long to recover the best of what was lost is "Celtic Reconstructionist." Some call us the diaspora. There is no simple name yet. I have not found all of my own answers yet. Some are still on the way. The closest I have come is 'Celtic Reconstructionist" or "Earth honoring". People like me honor the Ancient Deities, Ancestors and Land Spirits and feel that Divinity is "Male", "Female", Far Beyond Gender and Blendings of these Aspects. We honor the Earth and the beings upon our planet. We feel that we are the caretakers of the little ones: the plants, the animals, the rocks, the winds and waters. It is up to us to protect them for future generations.
Many a tribal or pastoral culture has been obliterated by the current powers that be. Columbus did not discover America. There were already people living on the land...and so it was around the world. Many put upon the boats that sailed from Scotland and Ireland were sent against their will. Among those of us descended from these people is agreat and gnawing longing for that homeland and that culture and that language. It continues to this very day. In Ireland, these are the same "Troubles" as before. The culture of the "Highlands and Islands" and of the Gaelic Spirit is rising as never before. You can hear the beauty and feel the power in something like the wonderful dance, "Riverdance", the "Gael Force" program or in the great wealth of other Celtic music and art. The spirit rises.
Throughout history, "saints" burned most of our ancient books or ogham sticks. They built churches on our Sacred sites, placed their holidays on our holy days and changed our Gods and Goddesses into their saints, most notably Saint Brigit of Ireland. Most of our stories have suffered over the generations in translation. There are mainly hints and fragments remaining. We are seeking to recover and share the old treasures which have been lost or hidden away in private collections. Many times this knowledge exists but we have not found it yet.
We seek to bring as much of our old values and practices back into the modern world as is possible, while keeping useful technologies such as our computers. Some groups hope to buy land where small communities and public worship may, one day, be possible. Lands will ideally be set in trust for future generations. I hope to donate a great collection of books and a wild collection of assorted items to a good Free-University Library...to plant forests...and always touch the earth.
To clarify a few misconceptions about Celtic Reconstructionists:
People like me have no "Satan" or "Devil." These are Christian myths and have nothing to do with our Gods and Goddesses. Some people worship Satan but we do not. We have Deities with horns but they are Guardians of Nature, not evil. If you have seen a picture of the goat-footed god Pan in Greek mythology, you are closer to the spirit.
We do not include sex, drugs or ceremonial (for personal power over others) magick in our rituals. We pray, we heal, grow our herbs and light candles. We are "low magic", earth magic. We honor the Earth, the Sea and the Sky. Magic is nothing more than natural law understood and directed.
We seek a high code of honor. We do not lie. We are not cruel. We offer hospitality and healing when we can.
We honor the Earth and the Indigenous People of all countries. We seek to re-establish a society with a greater sense of community and kinship.
Activism Page - The page is now up. It will addresses successes and failures in the Pagan communities as well as current efforts of social or political interest. I am an activist and mated to an activist. I have plenty of issues to raise. Did you know for one thing that the Irish are imposed an Internet charge to discourage Internet use? Do you realise how many prisoners of conscience Sinn Fein has in Irish and English jails? May Ireland be free and whole and healed one day! And may my native Scotland thrive and gain their independence. Look for many pieces of information designed to make you get up and *do* something!
